Alison Ritchie

Alison Ritchie is a Research Fellow at the UWA School of Agriculture and Environment, with a dual affiliation to the Kings Park Science group at the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions. Her research focuses on restoration ecology, seed enhancement technologies, and conservation genetics in disturbed landscapes of Southwest Australia. She leads projects developing seed coatings and pelleting to overcome ecological restoration barriers, collaborating with industry partners like Brigham Young University and Hanson Construction Materials. Her work addresses large-scale ecosystem restoration challenges, leveraging agricultural technologies for native species.

Her research interests include restoration ecology, seed germination, weed ecology, pollination interactions, and population genetics. Notable achievements include a 5-year ARC Linkage Project (LP170100075) on seed technologies in biodiversity hotspots and winning the 2018 National Quarry Life Awards. Ritchie’s projects emphasize interdisciplinary collaboration and sustainable restoration practices, with outputs spanning peer-reviewed articles, datasets, and media coverage.
