Alison Post is an Associate Professor of Political Science and Global Metropolitan Studies at the University of California, Berkeley, and currently serves as Co-Director of the Global Metropolitan Studies program. Her research focuses on urban politics, environmental policy, regulation, and political economy, with a regional emphasis on Latin America, South Asia, and the U.S. She explores infrastructure management, smart city technologies, and the intersection of public and private sectors in service delivery.
Post holds a B.A. in History from Stanford University, an M.A. in Government from Harvard, an M.Sc. in Urban & Regional Planning from the London School of Economics, and a Ph.D. in Government from Harvard. She has held fellowships including Marshall Scholar, Hoover Institution Fellow, and postdoctoral roles at Columbia University and LSE Urban Research.
Her work includes the book *Foreign and Domestic Investment in Argentina: The Politics of Privatized Infrastructure* (2014) and articles in journals like *Annual Review of Political Science* and *World Development*. She has received awards such as the Clarence Stone Scholar distinction and UC Berkeley’s Carol D. Soc award for mentoring. Her research is funded by organizations like the Hewlett Foundation and NSF.
Post’s recent projects analyze smart city technology adoption, cybersecurity risks in urban tech, and distributive politics in water utility systems. She collaborates across disciplines with engineers, urban planners, and public health experts to address global challenges in infrastructure and governance.
