Dr. Alison M. Duncan is a Professor in the Department of Human Health and Nutritional Sciences at the University of Guelph. She is affiliated with the Human Nutraceutical Research Unit (HNRU) and leads the Guelph Family Health Study. Her research focuses on functional foods' biological effects on chronic diseases and dietary behaviors across populations. Duncan holds a B.A.Sc. from the University of Guelph, M.Sc. from the University of Toronto, and Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota, complemented by a Registered Dietitian certification.
Her research interests include functional foods' role in diabetes management, glycemic control, and agri-food-health linkages. Notable work includes studies on lentil-based carbohydrate replacement lowering glycemic responses and vitamin D supplementation effects in at-risk populations.
