Alison Kelly is a Lecturer in Physiotherapy at Queen Margaret University (QMU), specializing in Oncology and Haematology. She holds a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy and a Master's in Clinical Research from St George's University of London (2017), funded by HEE and NIHR. Prior to academia, she worked in the NHS at Guys and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust and St George’s Hospital, focusing on improving cancer patients' quality of life through clinical and research roles. She also served as a Disability Analyst for the UK Department for Work and Pensions.
Her research interests include wearable sensors, mobile health technology, prehabilitation in cancer care, exercise testing in perioperative management, and inequalities in cancer treatment. Methodologically, she employs quantitative, qualitative, mixed-methods approaches, systematic reviews, and service evaluations. She coordinates the BSc Physiotherapy module 'Advancement of Clinical Management' and teaches across undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
Alison is a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (2006–present), Health and Care Professions Council (2009–present), and Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Oncology and Palliative Care (2012–present). Her professional awards include the NIHR/HEE-funded Master's scholarship (2016).
