Alison Hill is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Biology at Duke University, affiliated with Trinity College of Arts & Sciences. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina and a B.A. from Antioch College. Her instructional focus includes molecular biology laboratory curriculum development and promoting scientific literacy through courses like Genetics, Genomics and Society, and Biology of Aging. She has contributed to initiatives integrating formative assessment in lectures and reducing equity gaps in STEM education.
Her research background includes chromosome mechanics in yeast, centromere structure, and plant developmental genetics. Awards include the 2021 Trinity College Distinguished Teaching Award and multiple grants for innovative course design. She has served on committees addressing equity and inclusion, including Action for Justice Equity and Diversity and the Duke Teaching for Equity Fellows Program.
