Alison Fisher Bodkin, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor at James Madison University's School of Communication Studies, where she has taught since 2009. She holds a B.S. in Speech Communication from Bradley University, an M.A. from Miami University of Ohio, and a Ph.D. from Southern Illinois University. Her dissertation explored humor in environmental advocacy. She is a Graduate Faculty Member in the Communication and Advocacy MA program and an Affiliate for the Women's Gender and Sexuality Studies program.
Her research focuses on environmental advocacy, feminist discourse, and social movements. Work appears in Text and Performance Quarterly, Feminist Media Studies, and Environmental Communication. She collaborates with colleagues and graduate students on interdisciplinary projects bridging communication, gender studies, and ecology.
