Alison Clifford

Alison Clifford is a Reader at the School of Business and Creative Industries. She holds a PhD from Glasgow School of Art, a Master in Digital Art from the University of Pompeu Fabra, and an MA in English Literature from the University of Edinburgh. Her research focuses on the intersection of art and technology, particularly audiovisual art and digital creativity. Collaborating with composer Graeme Truslove, she explores natural systems in immersive audiovisual works, aiming to bridge art and natural science.

Key achievements include a BAFTA nomination, SFMOMA commission, and inclusion in the Electronic Literature Collection. She has exhibited globally in new-media festivals and received awards like the Alt-W Production Award and Lumen Prize shortlist. Her work contributes to UN SDG 4 (Quality Education) through creative education initiatives.

Alison supervises PhD students on topics like digital aesthetics, interactive art, and remediation. She actively engages in academic activities, including editorial roles at CITAR Journal and keynote talks on creative practice-based research.
