Alison Casey

Dr Alison Casey is a Senior Lecturer in Educational Development at the University of Sydney's Business School, part of the Business Co-Design team. Her work focuses on active learning pedagogies, digital tools in education, and authentic assessment strategies. She holds expertise in student engagement at scale and students-as-partners frameworks. Current projects include the Connected Learning at Scale (CLaS) initiative and collaborations on generative AI applications in education.

Her research spans higher education innovation, including studies on nursing students' online experiences in remote areas and postgraduate business education spaces. Alison has received the 2024 University of Sydney Strategic Education Grant and contributed to an AAUT Teaching Citation Award (2021) during her prior role in learning technologies development.

Teaching responsibilities include the OLES2210 course on navigating post-crisis global challenges. She actively engages with professional societies like HERDSA and the Australian Society for Computers in Learning in Tertiary Education (ASCILITE), presenting at conferences on topics ranging from AI ethics to oral assessment strategies.

Publications highlight interdisciplinary approaches: recent works analyze learning spaces in business education and generative AI's role in collaborative learning, while earlier research (pre-2000) explored liquid crystal phase transitions using computational physics methods.
