معرفی
Dr. Alison Care is an Ext-Funded Research Fellow (C) at the Robinson Research Institute, part of the University of Adelaide's Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences. She leads the Vascular Immunology in Pregnancy research group, focusing on preeclampsia, a major cause of maternal and perinatal mortality. Her work integrates immunology and vascular biology to develop screening tools and interventions for preeclampsia and its long-term cardiovascular impacts.
Research Interests: Dr. Care’s research combines immune system and vascular dynamics to study pregnancy complications. Key areas include regulatory T cells’ role in placental development, postpartum cardiovascular health, and screening strategies for at-risk populations. She collaborates globally to translate findings into clinical applications, such as the COFFEE Clinic for postpartum vascular monitoring.
Grants & Advising: As a University of Adelaide Future Making Fellow, she secures external funding for projects like Treg cell-based diagnostics. She supervises HDR and Honours students in projects involving mouse models and immune interventions. Current projects examine Treg cell boosting strategies and placental vascular adaptations.
Impact: Her work addresses health disparities in disadvantaged populations, where preeclampsia rates are disproportionately high. By targeting early pregnancy mechanisms, her research aims to reduce global maternal and fetal mortality and improve lifelong cardiovascular outcomes.
