Alison Bright is a Continuing Lecturer in the University Writing Program at the University of California, Davis. She also serves as a teacher-consultant with the National Writing Project and represents UC on the Advisory Board for the California Writing Project. Her research focuses on writing program administration, writing across the curriculum, writing centers, tutor preparation, teacher identity, and professional development for educators. Bright holds a Ph.D. in Education from UC Santa Barbara (2010), an M.A. in English from Sonoma State University (2005), and a B.A. in Spanish Literature from UC Santa Cruz (2002).
Her teaching spans courses like Expository Writing, Advanced Composition, and specialized writing for professions such as education and healthcare. Notable publications include a co-authored book (2019) and articles in English Education and Teaching/Writing. She received the 2009 NCTE Janet Emig Award for an article on teacher practice and writing processes. Her work emphasizes collaborative research and practical applications in educational settings.
