Alison Brand

Alison Brand is Clinical Professor and Director of Gynaecological Oncology at Westmead Hospital, University of Sydney. Her clinical research focuses on optimizing treatment for ovarian, endometrial, and cervical cancers, with special interest in surgical techniques, intraperitoneal chemotherapy, and enhanced recovery protocols. Brand leads several national trials including the STATEC trial on adjuvant therapy for endometrial cancer and studies on HIPEC (hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy) applications.

Her work addresses critical gaps in gynaecological cancer care, from improving genetic testing accessibility for older ovarian cancer patients to developing clinical registries for quality improvement. Recent molecular research identifies prognostic biomarkers like CCNE1 and p53 in ovarian cancer through international consortia. Brand advocates for standardized care through leadership in ANZGOG (Australia New Zealand Gynaecological Oncology Group) trials.

As Member of the Order of Australia (AM), she is recognized for contributions to women's health. Brand mentors clinicians through the NSW Indigenous Supplier Development Program and develops protocols for culturally safe healthcare delivery.
