Aliona Kuts serves as a Junior Research Fellow in Russian Language and Literature at the University of Tartu's Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Institute of Foreign Languages and Cultures since August 29, 2022.
Education:
- Master's Degree (2020): "The Polish Theme in Thaddeus Bulgarin's Novel Dimitry the Pretender" under supervision of Ljubov Kisseljova
- PhD Candidate: "Polish Uprising of 1830-31 as a National Cultural Memory Phenomenon (Poland - Russia - Ukraine)" supervised by Ljubov Kisseljova and Tatjana Stepaništševa (studies began August 29, 2022)
Her research focuses on cross-cultural memory phenomena in Eastern Europe, particularly examining how historical events like the Polish Uprising of 1830-31 are remembered and represented across national boundaries. She specializes in Russian literary analysis with attention to Polish and Ukrainian cultural contexts, working at the intersection of philology, cultural anthropology, and historical memory studies. Her work contributes to understanding how literature reflects and shapes national identities in the Slavic world.
