Aline Darbellay

Prof. Dr. Aline Darbellay is an Assistant Professor with Tenure Track at the University of Zurich, holding the Chair of Commercial and Business Law, specializing in Banking and Capital Markets Law. She serves on the Board of Directors of FINMA since 2025. Her academic journey includes roles at the University of Geneva (2016–2023) and a LL.M. in Comparative Law from the University of San Diego. She is a qualified attorney admitted to the New York Bar (2015) and a native French speaker with proficiency in German and English.

Her research focuses on regulatory frameworks for financial markets, sustainability disclosures, behavioral law and economics, and FinTech governance. Recent work addresses transparency requirements in corporate governance (Art. 964a–964/OR), cross-border regulatory equivalence, and algorithmic risks in digital platforms. She leads the Darbellay Chair team, including assistants Julius Agosti, Melanie Schmid, and former members like Banu Gün.

Publications highlight her expertise in credit rating agencies, sustainability risk management, and banking disclosure regulations. Awards include a 2011 teaching skills certification from UZH. Her advisory roles include directing the CAS Digital Finance Law program (2019–2023) and auditing at Horgen District Court (2015–2016).
