Alina Trabattoni is a researcher at the Lord Ashcroft International Business School, Anglia Ruskin University. She holds a BSc in Economics from the London School of Economics and an MPhil in International Relations from the University of Cambridge. Her work focuses on economic challenges associated with rural depopulation in Southern Europe, cultural heritage preservation, and the socio-economic impacts of urbanization.
Research Interests
Her research explores the decline of rural communities across Spain, Portugal, and Italy, emphasizing the loss of cultural heritage, shifts in urban-rural dynamics, and economic policy responses to depopulation trends. She has contributed to discussions on innovative strategies for revitalizing abandoned villages, including tax revenue generation and tourism-based solutions.

Alina co-authored a 2016 analysis on rural depopulation in Southern Europe, highlighting its economic implications, urban migration patterns, and policy interventions such as abandoned property taxation and community revitalization initiatives.
