Alina Fisher is a Lecturer at the University of Victoria’s School of Environmental Studies and a research manager with expertise in ecology, science communication, and conservation. She bridges academic research with public engagement through her roles as a freelance science writer for platforms like Science Borealis, guest lecturer, and conservation advocate.
- Education: Master of Arts in Professional Communication (2017, Royal Roads University); Bachelor of Science in Zoology (University of Alberta).
Her research spans population ecology processes such as pollination, mutualism, invasive species dynamics, and endangered species re-introduction, complemented by science communication (SciComm) studies. She designs and teaches labs in biology, plant science, and zoology, and has developed the course Science Communication for Ecological Restoration at UVic.
