The University of Manchesterمعرفی
Alicia-Marie Conway is a NIHR Clinical Lecturer in the Division of Cancer Sciences. Her research focuses on cancers of unknown primary (CUP), leveraging cell-free DNA (cfDNA) and methylation profiling to improve diagnosis and classification. She completed her PhD in 2022 under supervisors E. Kilgour, C. Dive, and N. Cook, titled 'Circulating free DNA multi-modal profiling to detect tissue-of-origin and direct therapy in Cancer of Unknown Primary'.
Research interests include:
- Cancer of Unknown Primary Origin (CUP) diagnostics
- Epigenetic biomarkers (DNA methylation)
- Multi-omics profiling for tumor origin identification
- Prognostic stratification using systemic inflammation markers
Her work has been recognized with awards including the AACR Women in Cancer Research Scholar Award (2022) and American Society of Clinical Oncology Merit Award (2024). Collaborations span international institutions, with recent projects highlighted in Nature Cancer and Nature Communications.
Key contributions include developing cfDNA-based classifiers for CUP subtyping and uncovering cholangiocarcinoma cases masked as CUP. Her research aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals for health and well-being (SDG 3).
