Alicia Heapy, PhD is an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at Yale University’s Yale School of Medicine. She is affiliated with the Pain Research, Informatics, Multimorbidities, and Education (PRIME) Center at the VA Connecticut Healthcare System. Her research focuses on behavioral interventions for chronic pain management, particularly in vulnerable populations such as hemodialysis patients and those with opioid use disorder. Dr. Heapy holds a PhD from Purdue University (2003) and completed postdoctoral training at the VA Connecticut Healthcare System.
Her work emphasizes optimizing clinical trial methodologies to enhance diversity and equity, as seen in her contributions to the NIH-funded Pain Management Collaboratory. She has led studies on pain coping skills training (COPES) and digital health solutions, including AI-guided therapy for chronic pain.
