Alicia Castro Lozano

Alicia Castro Lozano is a Research Professor at the Instituto de Ciencia de Materiales de Madrid (ICMM) under the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC). She has held this position since 2009 and previously served as Vice President of CSIC from 2012 to 2016. Her career spans over three decades at ICMM-CSIC, with a sabbatical year at the French CNRS (1996-1997).

• Education: PhD in Solid State Chemistry from Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM).

Research Interests
Alicia specializes in Solid State Chemistry and Materials Science, focusing on the synthesis, processing, and structural-property relationships of novel materials. Her work includes:
• Chemical design of ferroelectric and multiferroic oxides
• Layered perovskite systems (Aurivillius type, MPB perovskites)
• Mechanochemical activation and Spark Plasma Sintering (SPS) methods

Scientific Contributions
She has published 169 Web of Science-indexed articles with 3,289 citations (H=33) as of 2021, led over 20 research projects across Spain, France, and the USA, and supervised 7 PhD theses at UCM, Paul Sabatier Toulouse III, UAM, and UIMP.
