Alicia Bailey is the Technical Director and Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Performing and Applied Arts Department at Beloit College. She has been affiliated with the college since 2009, overseeing the scene shop and mentoring students in hands-on technical theatre practices. Her roles include teaching core courses such as Stagecraft, Stage Management, and Introduction to Design and Technology.
Education:
- BFA in Theatre Technology from University of Nebraska-Lincoln
- MFA in Scenic Technology from Indiana University, Bloomington
Research interests focus on practical technical theatre skills transferable to broader life contexts, including teamwork, problem-solving, and leadership development through applied arts education. She emphasizes skills like project management, organizational strategies, and collaborative work ethic in her teaching.
Collaborations include co-teaching Introduction to Design and Technology with Shelbi Wilkin (Costume Designer), integrating scenic construction and costume sewing techniques. She actively mentors student stage managers and production teams.
Operates from dual offices in Neese Theatre and Hendricks Center, maintaining the scene shop as a key teaching laboratory. Personal interests include feline companionship, culinary experimentation, and reading.
