Alice Young is a Professor in Psychological Sciences at Texas Tech University (TTU) and in Pharmacology & Neuroscience at TTU Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC). She also serves as the Associate Vice President for Research at TTU.
Education:
- Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology, University of Minnesota (1976)
- B.S. in Psychology, University of Tennessee (1971)
Her research focuses on psychopharmacology, particularly receptor-mediated processes in drug tolerance, dependence, and memory disorders in Alzheimer's disease. She investigates opioid mechanisms, cognitive effects of drugs, and neurochemical pathways.
Scientific Awards
- Outstanding Graduate Mentor Award, Wayne State University (1997)
Alice Young has served in editorial roles for journals such as Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics and Experimental and Clinical Psychopharmacology. Her work has been supported by grants from the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) and USPHS.
