Alice Servy is a lecturer in social and cultural anthropology at the University of Strasbourg, affiliated with the SAGE laboratory (Sociétés, acteurs, gouvernement en Europe) within the Faculty of Social Sciences. Her research focuses on health, gender, and therapeutic mobility in Oceania, particularly in Vanuatu and French Polynesia, using ethnographic and qualitative methods.
Research Interests:
- Medical anthropology and health systems in the Pacific
- Gender, sexuality, and reproductive autonomy
- Therapeutic mobility and medical evacuations for cancer patients
- Mental health of cancer patients in low-resource settings
- Violence, education, and social change in urban Melanesia
- Global health policy translation and local adaptation
Her recent work analyzes inter-island and international medical evacuations of cancer patients in French Polynesia and the mental health of cancer patients in Vanuatu. She has extensively studied the prevention of sexually transmitted infections, gender-based violence, and the social implications of global health categories such as 'men who have sex with men' (MSM) in local contexts.
