Alice S. Carter

Professor Alice S. Carter is a faculty member in the Department of Psychology at the University of Massachusetts Boston. Her research focuses on identifying infants and toddlers at risk for social, behavioral, and emotional difficulties, particularly in families with children exhibiting autism spectrum disorders, Tourette's Disorder, and obsessive-compulsive behavior. She also investigates the impact of family dynamics on child development and is involved in the Boston University Studies To Advance Autism Research (STAART).

• Education: PhD in Psychology from the University of Houston.

Her recent publications span topics such as early childhood behavioral genetics, social-emotional assessment, and environmental influences on developmental psychopathology. These works often employ cohort studies and interdisciplinary methodologies, including neuroimaging and family-based interventions.

Professor Carter also holds affiliations as a visiting research scientist at Yale University's Department of Psychology and Child Study Center and as a research associate at the Boston University School of Medicine's Department of Anatomy and Neurobiology.
