Alice Ogden Bellis is a Professor of Hebrew Bible at Howard University School of Divinity, where she has served for over 25 years. She holds advanced degrees in Divinity (MDiv, 1974), Semitic Languages (MA/PhD, 1977/1986), and Business Administration (MBA, 2013). Her research focuses on African presence in the Bible, gender-sensitive interpretations, and Hebrew wisdom literature. She dedicated her Proverbs commentary to Howard’s Divinity School community.
