Dr. Alice Mulder is an Associate Professor and Director of the Sustainability Practices and Research Center (SPARC) at Weber State University's Department of Geography. She holds a B.A. from Vassar College (1989), and M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Colorado-Boulder (1997, 2003).
Her research focuses on human-environment interactions, environmental sustainability, and land conservation, with fieldwork in diverse regions like India’s Deccan Plateau, Hawaii’s volcanoes, and England’s Lake District. She teaches courses on sustainability, environmental issues, and geography.
Her 2013 publication in Journal of Transport Geography examines transit-oriented development in Ogden, Utah. Mulder actively serves on the WSU Environmental Issues Committee and advises departmental honors programs and environmental studies minors.
As SPARC Director, she oversees sustainability initiatives, including a recent $2.4 million sub-award through Utah’s Beehive Emission Reduction Plan.
