Alice Kügler is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics at Central European University (CEU). She holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Cambridge and previously served as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at University College London. Her research focuses on Labor Economics, Public Economics, Inequality, and Innovation, employing large-scale administrative data and historical evidence to address policy-relevant questions.
She has held roles at the World Bank’s Chief Economist Office and the Ministry of Finance of Mozambique. Current affiliations include Research Associate at the Centre for Research & Analysis of Migration and Affiliate at the Institute of Labor Economics. She co-organizes the Vienna Applied Micro Economics Network.
Her recent work includes analyses of labor market reforms in Germany, structural changes in manufacturing sectors, and tax policy impacts in developing economies. Her research emphasizes empirical rigor and policy application across diverse economic contexts.
