معرفی
Dr. Alice Johnston is a Lecturer in Environmental Data Science at Cranfield University's Cranfield Environment Centre. She holds a BSc (Hons) in Environmental Science from Newcastle University and a PhD from the University of Reading. Between her PhD and current position, she worked as an ecological modeling consultant and was awarded a prestigious NERC Independent Research Fellowship.
Her research focuses on mechanistic understanding of how organisms respond to environmental change across scales. Key interests include:
- Developing individual-based models to predict population responses to stressors
- Analyzing soil-ecosystem interactions and greenhouse gas dynamics
- Investigating biodiversity patterns using large-scale ecological datasets
- Studying urban green space functionality and climate adaptation
- Advancing standardized modeling approaches for ecological forecasting
Her publications demonstrate strong thematic coherence in climate-ecosystem interactions, with 65% focusing on temperature responses in biological systems, 20% on modeling methodologies, and 15% on urban ecological applications. Recent work emphasizes global-scale ecosystem respiration, urban heat mitigation, and multi-stressor impacts on biodiversity.
Scientific Awards:
- NERC Independent Research Fellowship
Research Supervision: Currently advising PhD student Conor Walthall on sustainable food systems. Her lab employs agent-based modeling and big data approaches to address environmental challenges, with collaborations spanning global research networks studying carbon-climate feedbacks.
