Dr Alice Collier is a Reader in Chemistry Education at the Department of Chemistry, King's College London, where she has been responsible for developing integrated laboratory modules for first-year undergraduates since 2011. She also serves as Deputy Head of Department (Education), UG Year 1 Lead Organic Chemistry, and e-Learning Co-ordinator.
- PhD in Medicinal Chemistry (University of East Anglia, supervised by Dr Gerd Wagner)
- MChem in Analytical Chemistry (University of East Anglia, 2004)
Her research focuses on enhancing student learning through videos, interactive online resources, and chemical synthesis of biological molecules as molecular probes. She teaches Organic Chemistry 1 and 2, UG 1st Year Labs, Advanced Topics in Synthesis and Reactivity, and supervises MSci/MRes research projects.
Alice’s 2017 publication on base-modified GDP-mannose derivatives explores their substrate activity for yeast mannosyltransferase, contributing to carbohydrate chemistry and medicinal applications.
She was previously a senior demonstrator in the Pharmacy department at the University of East Anglia and later transitioned to teaching roles at King's College London.
