Alice BÉROUD is an Associate Professor of Classical Literature and a Lecturer in the Department of Languages, Literatures and Ancient Civilizations at the University of Toulouse-Jean Jaurès. She is also a contractual doctoral student at the same institution, conducting research in the PLH laboratory under the co-supervision of Valérie Visa and Sylvie Humbert-Mougin.
Her research focuses on Classical Literature and Comparative Literature, with specific interests in:
- Female figures in Homer's Odyssey and their contemporary rewritings
- Greek archaic poetry
- Receptions and reconfigurations of myths across French, English, and Greek-speaking domains
- Gender studies in ancient and modern contexts
- Cultural and historical analysis of classical texts
Her recent work explores the Télégonie as an interpretive framework for Homeric possibilities, analyzing Circe's role in the Odyssey's nostos narrative and themes of immobility. She presented this research at the 2021 international conference Suites d’Homère de l’Antiquité à la Renaissance in Tours, France.
