Alice Blumenfeld is an Assistant Lecturer at the University of Akron's School of Dance, Theatre, and Arts Administration. She currently teaches at Cuyahoga Community College and previously at Oberlin College. A distinguished artist, she holds an MFA from Hollins University and a BA in Comparative Literature (summa cum laude) from New York University, alongside a Simonson Method teaching certification.
Her research focuses on flamenco's cultural and artistic dimensions, blending performance, choreography, and education. She founded ABREPASO Flamenco (2016) and has toured nationally/internationally with companies like Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana and Grammy-winning Hernán Romero. Her choreography has been commissioned by major institutions including the Kennedy Center and National Hispanic Cultural Center.
Recipient of prestigious awards such as the Fulbright Grant and Ohio Arts Council's Individual Excellence Award, Blumenfeld's work emphasizes cross-cultural dialogue through dance. She has performed with leading U.S. flamenco companies and continues to bridge traditional flamenco with contemporary expression.
