Alice Baldridge is a Professor of Geology and Director of the Environmental and Earth Sciences program at Saint Mary’s College of California. She holds a PhD in Geological Sciences (Arizona State University, 2008), an MS in Geology (Arizona State University, 2002), and a BS in Earth Science (University of California, Santa Cruz, 1998).
Her research focuses on planetary surface processes, remote sensing spectroscopy, and increasing diversity in STEM. Key projects include NASA-funded work analyzing Martian geology via remote sensing and field studies in Death Valley, Australia, Yellowstone, and Iceland. She emphasizes accessibility in field sciences and integrates environmental justice into her teaching.
Teaching responsibilities include courses in Sedimentology, Earth Materials, and Environmental Geology of National Parks. As Director, she fosters undergraduate research partnerships and aligns programs with Saint Mary’s Catholic mission of environmental stewardship and social justice.
Her NASA collaboration aims to enhance astronaut field techniques on planetary surfaces. Research outputs span Mars’ aqueous environments, compositional stratigraphy, and mineralogy of evaporite deposits.
