Ali Yurukoglu is the The Jonathan B. Lovelace Professor of Economics at Stanford Graduate School of Business (GSB), where he teaches courses such as "Economics of the Media, Entertainment, and Communications Sector" and "Data and Decisions". His research focuses on industrial organization, antitrust, and regulatory policy, with notable contributions to the analysis of media and telecommunications markets, cable TV pricing, and merger evaluations. He holds a BA in Economics and Mathematics from Northwestern University and a PhD in Economics from New York University’s Stern School of Business.
Key professional roles include Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) since 2018, Senior Consultant at Compass Lexecon, and Visiting Assistant Professor at Harvard University (2013–2014). His work has been recognized with awards such as the Best Paper Prize from the Association of Competition Economics and the AER Excellence in Refereeing Award.
Yurukoglu’s research explores topics like cable news bias, drug shortages, and market power dynamics in industries such as automobiles and telecommunications. His studies often combine game theory and empirical analysis to evaluate regulatory policies and competitive market structures.
