Ali Trabolsi is a Professor of Chemistry and Program Head of Chemistry at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD), affiliated with the Faculty of Arts and Science. He holds a BSc from Lebanese University and advanced degrees (MS, PhD) from the University of Strasbourg. His research focuses on supramolecular chemistry, covalent organic frameworks (COFs), and multifunctional nanomaterials for healthcare and environmental applications.
Education: BSc (Lebanese University), MS/PhD (University of Strasbourg). His career includes postdoctoral work at UCLA, Northwestern University, and KAUST, followed by faculty roles at NYUAD.
Research interests span materials for health (e.g., drug delivery, cancer therapy) and the environment (e.g., water purification, pollutant removal). He develops COFs for applications like oral insulin delivery, toxic chemical capture, and CO2 reduction. Notable contributions include stimuli-responsive nanomaterials and metal-organic assemblies inhibiting amyloidogenesis.
His lab’s work is highlighted in projects such as magnetic nanoparticle-based therapies, light-driven COF assemblies, and fluorine-rich polymers for PFAS removal. Collaborations involve NYUAD’s Water Research Center and global partners.
Advising includes Global PhD fellows and postdoctoral researchers. Key grants and projects are tied to nanomedicine, environmental remediation, and sustainable materials.
