Dr. Ali Rajabipour is a Senior Lecturer in Engineering within the Faculty of Science and Technology. His research focuses on humanitarian engineering, service life prediction of structures, and sustainable construction practices in remote communities. He integrates Indigenous worldviews into participatory frameworks for infrastructure development. Key projects include remote road construction using recycled materials, mudbrick technology, and natural fiber composites. Dr. Rajabipour leads applied research initiatives such as the Rainmaker Start-up project (2021-2022) exploring AR/VR in construction training and the Crumb Rubber Asphalt study (2025) for NT roadways. His work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals, emphasizing environmental sustainability and community engagement.
Research interests span material science innovations for marine and terrestrial applications, including FRP composites, seawater concrete durability, and additive manufacturing. He has supervised multiple HDR students and collaborates with industry partners on applied development projects. Notable collaborations include investigations into bamboo composites, hydrogen energy feasibility for remote NT communities, and lifecycle assessments for high-rise construction materials.
Dr. Rajabipour has authored over 35 peer-reviewed publications and secured grants for projects addressing recycled materials in road construction (2021-2025) and environmental impact mitigation. His research bridges technical engineering challenges with socio-cultural considerations in marginalized regions.
