Ali Mosleh is a Professor at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in the College of Engineering, with appointments in Materials Science and Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering, and Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. He holds the Evalyn Knight Chair in Engineering.
- PhD in Nuclear Science and Engineering, UCLA (1981)
- MS in Nuclear Science and Engineering, UCLA (1978)
- BS in Physics, Sharif University of Technology, Tehran, Iran (1975)
His research focuses on reliability engineering, physics of failure modeling, and resilient systems design, with expertise in prognostics and health monitoring and Bayesian methods for risk assessment. He develops advanced techniques for hybrid systems simulation, common cause failure analysis, and model uncertainty assessment, applying these to infrastructure systems, healthcare, and natural hazards risk management. His work integrates human reliability analysis and organizational factors in socio-technical systems.
Dr. Mosleh has received numerous accolades, including election to the National Academy of Engineering (2010), Fellowships in the American Nuclear Society and the Society for Risk Analysis, and multiple Best Paper Awards. His contributions were recognized with the Tommy Thompson Award (2013), Rotary National Award for Space Achievement (1998), and the P.K. McElroy Award (1995).
