Dr Ali Mohammed is a Honorary Lecturer at the Dyson School of Design Engineering (Imperial College London) and will join the Royal College of Art's School of Design as an Associate Professor in 2024. His research spans tissue engineering, nanocomposite hydrogels, 3D bioprinting, and polymer chemistry.
- BEng Chemical Engineering (UCL, 2009)
- MSc Biomedical Engineering (Imperial College, 2018)
- PhD in Advanced Nanocomposite Hydrogels (Jones' Group, 2018)
His research interests focus on stimuli-responsive biomaterials, additive manufacturing, and microfluidics for biomedical applications. Key scientific awards include:
- Larry Hench Prize for Biomaterials Research (2018)
- IMSE Seed Funding Grant (2022)
- Convergence Science Centre Organoids Grant (2021)
Publications reveal expertise in double network hydrogels, lightweight lattice structures, and bioactive glass. He has led Solid Mechanics II modules at Dyson School and contributed to OncoEng Summer School programs.
