Ali K. Kamrani is an Associate Professor in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at the University of Houston's Cullen College of Engineering. He serves as Director of the Industrial Engineering Graduate Program and Founding Director of the Design and Free Form Fabrication Laboratory. Additionally, he holds a Visiting Professor position at King Saud University's Princess Fatimah Alnijris's Research Chair for AMT. His expertise spans systems engineering, CAD/CAM, modularity in product design, and robotics.
- Education: Ph.D. (Industrial Engineering, University of Louisville, 1991), M.Eng. (Engineering Mathematics/Computer Science and Electrical Engineering), B.S. (Electrical Engineering)
Research focuses on innovation in manufacturing systems, data mining applications, and autonomous robotics control. He has authored/co-authored multiple books including Product Design for Modularity and Mass Customization: A Supply Chain Approach. Editor-in-Chief roles include the International Journal of Collaborative Enterprise and International Journal of Rapid Manufacturing.
Teaching responsibilities include courses in manufacturing processes, robotics, control systems, and systems engineering modeling. His lab specializes in free-form fabrication technologies and design optimization.
