Ali Elnwegy is a Researcher at the Institute of Mechatronics in Mechanical Engineering (M-4) at Hamburg University of Technology (TU Hamburg), a position held since April 2024. Previously, he served as a Research Assistant at the same institute from January to April 2024, contributing to the institute's core research initiatives in mechatronics and human-machine systems.
His academic foundation includes:
- M.Sc. in Mechatronics Engineering from Technical University Hamburg-Harburg (2023), thesis: "Multi-Layered Control of a Telemanipulation platform with Vibrotactile Feedback"
- B.Sc. in Mechatronics Engineering from the German University in Cairo (2019), thesis: "Model Predictive Control of a Tower Crane"
Mr. Elnwegy's research centers on advanced control architectures and haptic human-machine interfaces, with specialization in telemanipulation systems enhanced by vibrotactile feedback. His work directly supports the institute's focus on human-robot collaboration, evidenced by involvement in projects like VRobotia and utilization of the Haptics Lab. His expertise spans model predictive control, multi-layered system integration, and sensor-driven mechatronic design, aligning with the institute's research pillars in electrical measuring systems and autonomous sensor networks.
As part of TU Hamburg's Institute of Mechatronics, he operates within specialized facilities including the Haptics Lab and Power Hardware-in-the-Loop Laboratory (PHiLsLab), contributing to both research and teaching activities. His current work focuses on real-time control systems for teleoperated platforms, with applications in industrial automation and assistive robotics.
