Dr. Ali Bonner is a Bye-Fellow and Director of Studies in Anglo-Saxon, Norse & Celtic at Queens' College, University of Cambridge. She specializes in early medieval history with a focus on British authors of the fifth century who wrote in Latin.
Her educational background includes:
- Degree in Classics from Oxford University
- BA (Aff.), MPhil and PhD in Anglo-Saxon, Norse, and Celtic from the University of Cambridge
Dr. Bonner's research focuses on Pelagius and Faustus of Riez, with broader interests spanning Medieval History, Celtic Studies, Latin Literature, Manuscript Studies, Early Christian Thought, and Insular History from the fifth century to the Conquest. She has published on St Patrick, Columbanus, Pelagius, and the manuscript transmission of Pelagius' works, including her book 'The myth of Pelagianism' published by the British Academy in 2018.
She teaches Celtic history covering Brittonic and Gaelic speaking peoples, as well as Latin and Medieval Welsh.
Her notable achievement includes:

Prior to her academic career, Dr. Bonner worked in television for 15 years before pursuing her studies in medieval history at Cambridge.
