Dr. Alfredo Poggi is an Associate Professor of Spanish at the University of North Georgia (UNG), where he has been since 2018. His research bridges theology, literature, and post-decolonial studies, emphasizing religious experiences and their role in Latin American cultural identity. He holds a Ph.D. in Spanish and Portuguese Literatura & Cultural Studies from Georgetown University (2018), an M.S. from Georgetown (2016), an MTS in Theology from Boston College (2013), and prior degrees in Philosophy and Media Studies from Universidad Católica Andrés Bello. His work challenges secularist narratives and explores mystical traditions, political ideologies, and anti-imperialism.
Recent publications include a 2024 book analyzing Marian apparitions as pre-critical theological resistance, and a 2020 book critiquing revolutionary wrath in Latin American anti-imperialism. He also authored poetry collections like Misericordia (2014). Beyond academia, he actively supports Christian non-profits aiding marginalized communities.
