Alfredo Oliveros

Alfredo Oliveros, PhD is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University at Buffalo's College of Arts and Sciences. His research focuses on regenerative neurobiology in disease states affecting cognitive function, particularly chemotherapy-induced cognitive impairment (chemobrain). He employs multidisciplinary approaches including preclinical mouse models, RNA sequencing, and proteomics to study neuroinflammation, neurogenesis, and molecular mechanisms of cognitive dysfunction. His lab investigates hippocampal and striatal function using behavioral assays like the Morris water maze and 5-choice serial reaction time task.

Education: BA in Psychology from the University of North Florida, PhD in Biomedical Sciences (Mayo Clinic), and postdoctoral training at Rutgers University. His work has been funded by the AACR.
