Alfredo Burlando is an Associate Professor of Economics at the University of Oregon and Director of the Master’s Program in Economics. He specializes in Development Economics, focusing on financial digitization, financial inclusion, and social protection strategies for vulnerable populations in low-income countries. His research addresses schooling, health, and economic determinants in the Global South.
He is affiliated with prominent organizations including the Center for Effective Global Action (CEGA), the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL), and Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA). His work emphasizes evidence-based solutions to global development challenges, particularly leveraging financial instruments for social protection.
