Dr. Alfred Krzywicki is a Lecturer at the School of Computer and Mathematical Sciences, University of Adelaide, within the Faculty of Sciences, Engineering and Technology. He holds a PhD in Natural Language Processing and Personal Agents from the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Sydney (2012). Prior to his academic career, he worked as a Senior Software Engineer and consultant in high-volume transaction processing systems. His research focuses on Natural Language Processing (NLP), recommendation systems, and pattern mining, with notable recent work on sequential pattern mining in financial data collaborated with UNSW. He transitioned to teaching in 2020, first at UNSW and currently at the University of Adelaide, where he integrates his industry and research experience to prepare students for professional careers. Key collaborations include projects funded by Fairfax Digital, Data to Decision CRC, and Rich Data Corporation, yielding both academic and commercial outcomes. His interdisciplinary approach bridges NLP with recommendation systems, particularly in leveraging text data for user/item similarity analysis.
