Alfred Galichon is a full professor of Economics and Mathematics at New York University (NYU), holding dual appointments in the NYU Arts & Science and NYU Courant Institute. He also serves as the Director of NYU Paris and is an affiliated professor of Data Science at NYU’s Center for Data Science. His research focuses on Optimal Transportation theory and its applications to economics, finance, and data science. Galichon is a Fellow of the Econometric Society and leads the ERC-funded ‘EQUIPRICE’ project on equilibrium methods for resource allocation and dynamic pricing.
Education:
- Ph.D. in Economics, Harvard University (2007)
- M.S. in Engineering, École des Mines de Paris (2003)
- B.S. in Mathematics and Economics, École Polytechnique (2000)
Research Interests: Optimal Transport, Matching Models, Microeconometrics, Dynamic Discrete Choice, Machine Learning, and Computational Economics.
Recent Activities: Teaches advanced courses on computational economics and optimal transport at NYU. Organizes workshops and conferences on topics like gross substitutes and equilibrium transport. Authored books including Optimal Transport Methods in Economics and Mathematical Methods of Discrete Choice Models.
