Alexios Kythreotis

Alexios Kythreotis is an Assistant Professor and Chair of the Department of Accounting, Economics and Finance at the European University Cyprus. He holds a Ph.D. in Financial Accounting (2012), an MBA (2006), and a B.Sc. in Accounting and Finance (2005). His research focuses on financial accounting standards, fraud detection mechanisms, sustainability through green finance, and international capital structure dynamics. He leads the Erasmus+ funded project on Circular Economy and Sustainability (2022–2025) as Principal Investigator and has served as Academic Coordinator for the HERCULE III Financial Investigation Program (2014–2020). His work bridges theoretical frameworks like IFRS qualitative characteristics with practical challenges such as financial fraud prevention and environmental policy integration.
