Dr. Alexey Ganin is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Glasgow, affiliated with the School of Chemistry. He leads the Glasgow ElectroChemistry On Solids (GECOS) group, focusing on solid-state electrocatalysts for renewable energy systems.
Research Interests:
- Designing 2D materials (e.g., MoTe₂) for hydrogen production via electrochemical activation
- Developing thin-film technologies to enhance catalytic efficiency and reduce costs
- CO₂ capture/storage using waste-derived materials (e.g., PVC-based sorbents)
- Exploring superconductivity in molecular systems
Grants:
- EP/W03333X/1: Supported MoTe₂ for PEM flow cell hydrogen production
- NZTC Spark-2069: Membrane-free seawater electrolysis with CO₂ capture
- EP/P001653/1: High-temperature superconductors from iron-based chalcogenide blocks
Collaborations: Include interdisciplinary work with Prof. Miras (University of Glasgow), Dr. Yiu (Heriot-Watt University), and researchers in engineering and chemical engineering.
