Dr. Alexey Fedorov is a Senior Scientist at the Laboratory of Energy Science and Engineering, part of the Department of Mechanical and Process Engineering at ETH Zürich. He holds a Ph.D. from ETH Zürich (2010) and completed postdoctoral research at Caltech (2010–2012) and under Prof. Christophe Copéret at ETH Zürich (supported by Holcim Stiftung and ETH). His research focuses on homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysis, spectroscopy, and high-throughput experimentation. Key projects include probing catalytic mechanisms for ammonia synthesis, propane dehydrogenation, and CO₂ reduction. His work integrates advanced techniques like operando TEM and XAS to study catalyst dynamics. Dr. Fedorov leads the Energy Science and Engineering group, emphasizing sustainable energy technologies and material innovation.
Research Interests: Catalysis (heterogeneous/homogeneous), surface chemistry, advanced materials for energy applications, and mechanistic studies using in situ/operando spectroscopy. Recent contributions highlight MXene-based catalysts, Ga-based clusters for propane dehydrogenation, and carbon capture materials.
Publications: Over 50 peer-reviewed articles since 2005, with recent focus on catalyst design for methane oxidation, Fischer-Tropsch synthesis, and CO₂ valorization. His work bridges molecular-level understanding and industrial catalytic processes.
Labs & Teams: Active in the Laboratory of Energy Science and Engineering (LEE), collaborating with industry partners on catalytic reactor design and sustainable energy systems.
