Dr. Alexey Bessudnov is an Associate Professor in the Department of Social and Political Sciences, Philosophy and Anthropology at the University of Exeter. He holds a DPhil in Sociology from the University of Oxford and has held academic positions at the National Research University Higher School of Economics and the European University Institute. His research focuses on ethnic inequalities in education and migration, using quantitative methods to analyze data from Russia and the UK. Current projects include studies on military fatalities in the Ukraine conflict, digital trace data utilization, and educational disparities in primary schools. He teaches courses on social analysis, immigration, and statistical data analysis, and has supervised PhD students in areas of ethnic stratification and education policy.

Research interests span demography, migration studies, and computational social science. He serves as Deputy Head of Department and has contributed to policy-relevant studies on SEN inclusion and academisation impacts in UK schools.
