Alexey Belyanin is a Professor and Ed Rachal Foundation Endowed Chair in Science at Texas A&M University's Department of Physics and Astronomy. He holds affiliations with the Mitchell Institute for Fundamental Physics & Astronomy and the Institute for Quantum Science & Engineering. His research focuses on quantum optics, nanophysics, and semiconductor materials, particularly in ultrafast nonlinear optics and topological materials.
Key research areas include the dynamics of entangled states in nanophotonic systems, frequency comb generation in quantum cascade lasers, and the optical properties of Weyl semimetals. His work bridges theoretical and experimental physics, with contributions to nanooptics, plasmonics, and optoelectronic device design.
Dr. Belyanin's awards include Fellowships from SPIE (2015), the American Physical Society (2012), and the Optical Society of America (2019), alongside an NSF CAREER Award (2006). His team includes advisees like Yongrui Wang and collaborates with institutions such as Harvard University and TU-Vienna.
Recent projects highlight breakthroughs in harmonic frequency comb generation, graphene's nonlinear optical response, and terahertz frequency combs in semiconductor lasers. His research often involves interdisciplinary partnerships, addressing challenges in nanophotonics and quantum information science.
