Alexej Jerschow is a Professor of Chemistry at New York University (NYU), leading research in NMR/MRI methodology and applications. His work focuses on battery diagnostics using in situ NMR/MRI, nuclear spin singlet states, and computational approaches like MD/ab initio methods.
Education: Ph.D. from the University of Linz, Austria; graduate research at the MR Center (Sintef-Unimed, Trondheim, Norway); postdoctoral fellowships at the University of Lausanne (Switzerland) and University of California, Berkeley.
Research interests span interdisciplinary applications of magnetic resonance, including energy storage diagnostics and fundamental spin dynamics. He holds editorial roles at *Journal of Magnetic Resonance* and *Magnetic Resonance in Medicine*, and serves as Secretary General of the International Society of Magnetic Resonance (2018-present).
Awards include the Carl-Zeiss-Humboldt Research Award (2023) and Golden Dozen Teaching Award (2018). Administrative roles include Director of Undergraduate Studies in NYU Chemistry (2014-present) and leadership in Euromar and other scientific organizations.
