Alexei Kojevnikov is a Professor in the Department of History within the Faculty of Arts at the University of British Columbia. His scholarly work bridges historical inquiry with scientific analysis, focusing on the complex interplay between scientific knowledge, political systems, and cultural contexts across Russian, Soviet, and Eurasian history. He maintains an active research program while supervising graduate students across multiple international institutions.
Professor Kojevnikov's research interests span Soviet, Russian, and Eurasian History with particular emphasis on Science, Society, and Culture. His expertise includes the History of Modern Science (especially Exact Sciences), International Nuclear History, and the Cold War. His thematic research areas encompass Empire & Colonialism, Global & International History, and Science, Technology, & Medicine, with regional focus on both Asia and Europe. Current projects include Space-Time, Death-Resurrection, and the Russian Revolution; Biosocial Boundaries and Cross-Cultural Encounters; History of Big Bang Cosmology and Quantum Theory; and CHORUS — International Colloquium for the History of Russian Science (2020-2023).
